More on Journalist Molly Ivins

I followed her career over the years and was happy to see her eventually get her own syndicated column. I recall her quick wit on the old Johnny Carson Show when she was asked for an assessment of the 1992 presidential nominees. She described incumbent George H.W. Bush as “poor George, he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth”. Her quick three word take on former Californian governor Jerry Brown: “He never exhaled”! She was famous for writing about the Bush family and in particular George W. Bush who she referred to as “Shrub”; the endearing term later became the title of her book published in 2000.
