Legislation and Investigations
Clearly our clients would have less information available to them during the course of an investigation had the investigative profession not taken an activist role in legislation. Each year there are dozens of bills that could affect the flow of information that is vital to professional investigators.
NCISS- National Council of Investigation & Security Services has for over 35 years protected the interests of investigators and security professionals in Washington D.C. I am a proud member of the Council and have been active on the NCISS Legislative Committee for over a dozen years. I am a former president and two time board chairman of this outstanding organization. Our board members bear considerable expense attending board meetings twice annually including a trip to Washington D.C. to lobby Congress. It is a totally voluntary effort that benefits investigative and security professionals and ultimately the clients that we serve.
We will be making the trek to Washington in the next few weeks at our annual "Hit the Hill" event. Our clients often do not know how much time professional investigators spend trying to maintain access to the information they need to adequately conduct investigations. Each year there are more bills proposed that impact such hot button topics as identity theft, use of social security numbers in commerce, use of personal identity information such as dates of birth, residential addresses etc. in commerce. Professional privacy advocates are often consulting with members of Congress and we have to advise these same members as to the need for our continued access to this information.
For more information please spend a few minutes to see what NCISS is all about and visit our website at http:// www.nciss.com. Without constant vigilance on federal legislation, our service and value to clients would be diminished. For any client that would like to make a contribution to our legislative fund, it would be most appreciated, just let me know. Our efforts will directly benefit you in the long run.
